Eye Examinations
A New Way of Looking at Things
Our eyes are irreplaceable and deserve the best care. With cutting-edge equipment, our gold-standard eye examinations offer a fresh perspective and in-depth testing. This comprehensive approach provides peace of mind, knowing your vision is in expert hands.
We believe that simple sight tests aren’t enough in our rapidly evolving world.
The way we work, entertain ourselves, and live is increasingly digital, putting more strain on our eyes than ever before. That’s why we pride ourselves on offering a comprehensive 60-minute eye test, using hospital-standard equipment.
Our thorough eye exams not only determine if your vision has changed but also utilise advanced equipment to detect any conditions, health issues, and potential warning signs early. By keeping a close watch on your eye health, we ensure you receive the best possible care, tailored to the demands of modern life.
What to Expect During Your Eye Examination
During your eye examination, you have the opportunity to thoroughly discuss any concerns you may have about your eyes, any hereditary diseases within your family, your vision, and your current optical prescription.
Your optometrist will also discuss any problems you are experiencing with your eyes, your general eye health, your lifestyle, and whether you work from home or spend a lot of time with your eyes fixed on a screen.
Your Consultation
We take any concerns you have about your eyes very seriously, making sure that you feel comfortable and listened to during your consultation. We treat our patients as though we are treating a member of our family, so we guarantee you’ll receive only the highest standard of care and compassion.
Rather than an unqualified optical assistant conducting your pre-screening tests, our qualified optometrists will complete all aspects of your test.
Their expertise will allow them to identify potential problems with your eyes, as well as signs of other medical conditions, such as diabetes and hight blood pressure. It is important that we obtain a clear understanding of your needs so that we can deliver care that is tailored to you and your needs.
All necessary tests are included in the fee for our TWC Eye Examination. There are no hidden charges, and if any tests need repeating within a month, this is included at no extra cost.
As well as all the usual tests you would expect in your comprehensive eye examination such as subjective refraction (prescription measurement), vision checks, binocular vision testing, slit lamp examination and ophthalmoscopy, you can also expect the following as standard:
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a state-of-the-art, non-invasive imaging technology that provides detailed cross-sectional images of the retina. Using light waves, OCT allows us to see each layer of the retina, helping detect eye diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy at their earliest stages, often before symptoms appear. This early detection means we can treat issues before they lead to significant vision loss. OCT’s high-resolution images are quick, safe, and provide essential information, making it an amazing tool for maintaining eye health and vision care.
Optomap ultra-wide-angle retinal imaging
The OPTOS Optomap is a cutting-edge retinal imaging technology that captures up to 200 degrees (82%) of the retina in a single image, compared to the 10-100 degrees provided by traditional methods. This non-invasive process uses low-powered lasers, eliminating the need for pupil dilation and avoiding the discomfort of eye drops and post-exam blurry vision.
The quick, high-resolution images allow for immediate review, making it efficient and patient-friendly. The Optomap is essential for early detection and monitoring of eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Its ability to image the peripheral retina can reveal issues that standard imaging might miss, and its multi-modal imaging options provide detailed views for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning. The Optomap enhances eye care by providing a thorough, comfortable, and efficient examination that helps maintain long-term eye health.
Tonometry ('No-Puff' Eye Pressure Testing)
Rather than using the traditional puff of air to detect the pressure within your eye, (which, let’s face it, everybody hates), we use Goldmann Tonometry or iCare tonometry. With no puff involved, these techniques are quick and painless, helping your optometrist accurately check your eye pressure to better determine your risk of glaucoma.
